Generational knowledge passed through families has always made me a smidge jealous. I lost my great-grandmother when I was sixteen, and in grief, there was a part of me that craved having learned more of her life and experiences. But with the loss, I turned to the few cookbooks and recipe box that had been passed onto me, finding myself connecting with her anytime I reference those materials.
In this work I mimicked her handwriting and used a typewriter font that I sourced from her recipe cards to display some of her more notable recipes. Printed on canvas and framed along the top and bottom with a wood dowel, three generations passed knowledge is displayed new for another generation to share.
