What is the human experience? Our experiences and emotions can make us both similar and unique. I am drawn to what makes us human, and to those experiences that can seperate and connect us to one another. This series explores what it is to be human through the experience of each individual sense. Both portrait and landscape elements are used to depict how sensations center us in places and can make us feel whole and connected to the world around us. Embroidered and textural elements emphasize the visual representation of each sense in these paintings.

Inspiration was gathered from my own experiences of connecting with the world around me, and the feeling that when I connect with and experience nature it can give me deeper empathy for people who I might otherwise never feel a bond with.
