My process allows me to create various layers of visual nuance that connect the viewer to experiences through objects. The materials chosen for each piece require balance with the environmental circumstances present in atmospheric firing; the method gives rise to idiosyncrasies that expose the depth of each form’s surface. Visceral surfaces are formed by wrapping organic materials in between layers of slip. As the fiber material burns out, voids within the everlasting memory of clay are created and then revealed during sandblasting after firing.

If humanity could simply 'sandblast' its façade, deeply-woven histories of decay that has been passed from generation to generation would reveal itself. By combining the nature of clay and the nurture of technique, this process expands the intersection of clay and fibers, all while continuing to reflect and explore self-identity. Through surface exploration, stories that are deeply woven in my development of self, reveal hidden pasts, exposing the dichotomy of the dueling personalities of what is seen – unseen.
