    State of Flux

Growth and transformation are inevitable parts of being alive, and throughout life we are constantly faced with situations where we exist in uncertainty. State of Flux explores this delicate space, shedding light on the experience of the unknown. The work celebrates my own journey of growth and change, and I hope to forge a connection with others through portraying an uncomfortable yet universal state.

We all face challenges in our lives, whether they be physical, situational, or mental. The chains within this piece represent these barriers. In the process of breaking through them, we exist in a softer, more vulnerable place within. This space, shown in the undulating and organic folds of porcelain slip, celebrates the directionless, messy, and yet beautiful process of being present within acceptance and growth and change. Through acceptance there is rebirth, with new thoughts and ideas beginning to form. That spark of passion and light is symbolized within the pockets of natural growth.

Engaging with this fluid state of acceptance and exploration has been an integral part in the creation of this work. I have an innate passion for the materials and processes of clay, photography, and film, and that excitement informs new discoveries within each medium. Through being present in the process, I am able to continue exploring ideas and concepts while honoring the desire to portray aspects of beauty and honesty within human experience.
