The average person creates around four pounds of garbage a day. This creates a whole array of problems; with one being what we do with the trash we have created. A lot of garbage is not disposed of correctly and ends up on our streets, in our forests, and eventually floating in our bodies of water. The Garbage Series calls attention to this growing issue by creating nature-themed collages with trash collected from the surrounding areas of Marquette.

Removing elements of nature and replacing it with garbage disrupts how we normally view nature. By doing this it is highlighting the existence of garbage in nature. Highlighting the garbage in nature allows the viewer to question why we do not value the environment that surrounds us every day and why we litter in the first place.
