The Pop art movement that emerged in the United Kingdom and the United States during the 1950s challenged traditions of fine art with imagery from popular and mass culture. "Electric Love" continues that narrative into the Information Age. Smartphones, social media, and dating apps have revolutionized the way we navigate vast quantities of data in search of validation. Expressions of intimacy have become instantaneous with a tap of a finger. Dissent arises over whether there is something lost or something gained in this new format of communication. As a graphic designer, the majority of my work is digitally generated and electronically viewed. In this exhibition, wood was chosen as a foundational element in juxtaposition to the idea of electronic love. The face of love changes in context, yet something natural, steady, and timeless exists below the surface.
