In the work presented before you, a choice is yet to be made. Many would say to choose wisely, but I beg to differ. Selecting a card out of a tarot deck may make you feel nervous or pressured, but this moment should not be feared, for it will walk you through a lesson of life, that of which you were meant to learn. The Clarity Tarot Deck was created to present the many wise teachings of our journey through life without inducing the fear of picking the wrong card or receiving the wrong message. The meaning of this work is to present a clear and informative design invented to teach the core principles of each card. By providing a series of keywords to explain the philosophies behind each of the tarot cards, it leaves the user to expand upon that knowledge to create their own definition. As a result, a deeper connection to the cards grants the wisdom that there is no wrong choice or room for error, for each potential lesson is meant to guide the individual into understanding an aspect of life that we all must eventually realize and accept. Utilizing the odds of random selection, your cards can appear in any assortment. However, remember that regardless of chance, the arrangement before you will tell you precisely what you need to hear.
By hand-drawing a series of visual symbols derived from the original Raider-Waite tarot deck design, these simple but illustrative cards use a more straightforward method of describing each of their meanings. Digitally drawing each design with navy blue linework inspired by iron gall ink, pays respect this longstanding tradition’s cultural origins in medieval Europe. Leaving the composition void of color allows for the simplicity needed to direct the viewer towards the symbolism behind each illustration and interpreting the explanatory text below. Having created enchanting illustrations, witchcraft tools, and more, this deck of tarot cards is the culmination of years of study, practice, and the manifestation of my artistic dreams. Choosing to design this deck was more of an urge than a decision, for it has been a seed planted in my mind for many years waiting to fully blossom—just as I have waited to ascend to the peak of my undergraduate degree. My formal studies are now concluded with this body of work designed to help me foresee and pursue my destined future as a successful artist.
