Gabrielle McNally

Gabrielle McNally is a practicing artist working in experimental autobiographical and essayistic nonfiction, exploring themes of documentation, family history, genealogy, inherited memory, place, fragmentation, ritual, and performance. She handles all aspects of her work, including conception, cinematography, editing, sound design, and musical composition.

Gabrielle earned her MFA in Film and Video Production from the University of Iowa in 2014, where she also completed certification in Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies. Prior to graduate school, she collaborated on feature films in Iowa. She received her B.A. with honors in Art from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 2009, focusing on video, performance, and installation. She also studied vocal music performance, theatre, and dance, which continue to inform her video work.

Her personal work has screened internationally at numerous film festivals and galleries.
