AD 485: Theories and Practices in Art and Design

"Examination of the methods, production, values, philosophy, and critical awareness of art and design."

Theories and Practices in Art and Design is the final course in the cognate sequence and the course that examines the overlaps of physical, visual, and social structures. The course emphasizes the practices of being an artist and designer from both practical and theoretical perspectives. Methodology is refined as a basis for lifelong practice in the field of art and design. Student expectations of “what is art” are challenged to promote conceptual diversity and provide an awareness of personal beliefs and values related to art and design.
